ABCD has been one of several program operators for the city of Bridgeport’s Lighthouse program, since 1993. The Lighthouse Program brings schools, communities and the municipality together to provide students with safe, nurturing and supportive environments after school and during the summer. The program provides educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities to Bridgeport’s students, in grades K – 12, through a diversified approach to programming. During the summer, the program operates for five weeks beginning the first week in July, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. A free breakfast and lunch are served. The after-school program operates from September through May, between the hours of 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm (critical hours of crime for school age children); a free snack is provided. There is a sliding fee attached to the program. In addition, working parents are offered an extra hour of service during the summer and a half-hour during the school year for an additional charge. Scholarships are available.

Applications can be obtained at each site or at ABCD headquarters (1070 Park Ave.). Items you will need to bring with you: Copy of latest income tax return (1040) or two recent consecutive pay stubs OR a letter showing unemployment or social security status. These items are only required if you are applying for a reduced fee or scholarship. A $25 non-refundable deposit (bank check or money orders accepted). NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS PLEASE.

Should you be unable to show “proof of income”, you will be responsible for the full cost.*** Your deposit is applied to the total cost.
