Assistant Director of Early Learning

To provide support and assistance to the Early Learning Division. Supervision of the Family Service Component and ensure compliance with mandates. Knowledge and implementation of Head Start Performance Standards and ensure component compliance. Assist Director in planning, formulating, coordinating, and implementing program objectives and goals. Assist with data collection and management for program. Assist in development of program policies, systems, procedures, and plans. Develop a Governance Training curriculum for use by all program staff and parents with regular updates. Update program plans annually for family engagement in conjunction with the Policy Council Parents, Center Committee Parents, and other staff. Conduct annual parent interest survey.

Education/Experience/Skills: Master’s Degree or equivalent in one or more disciplines in the early child education/child development field: and five years ECE managerial work experience. Knowledge of best practices in early childhood and related practices.Knowledge of Community and its resources. Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills and good interpersonal skills required. Ability to select, develop, and supervise staff including personnel appraisals. Demonstrated experience working with adults from a diverse background.Must have a valid CT driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Teacher

Responsible for all educational activities of the classroom, and to aid the Teacher Assistant/Volunteers in their assigned duties. Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe. Responsible for implementing the curriculum of the classroom, and planning and writing weekly lesson plans. Responsible for daily and monthly reports for designated classroom.Responsible for the development and periodic review of individualized educational plans for each child. Maintain orderly classroom and keep equipment/supplies in good condition. Implement individual profile and I.E.P.’s as well as lesson plans. Responsible for scheduling home visits (minimum of two) and parent contacts (Head Start). Assist in preparing monthly reports with Family Case Worker. Assist the Site Manager with placing in classroom.

Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a non ECE Bachelor’s with 12 credits in ECE plus six months or more of classroom experience in ECE setting preferred. Proficient in the use of computer programs preferred. Good organizational skills required. Good oral and written communication skills required. Bi-lingual helpful but not required.

Responsible for room coverage at all times as well as maintaining a safe indoor/outdoor environment. Share responsibilities involving breakfast, lunch and snack. Prepare baby formula and sterilize equipment. Change diapers on a regular basis. Plan programs in accordance with Head Start/Day Care regulations.

Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a non ECE Bachelor’s with 12 credits in ECE plus six months or more of classroom experience in ECE setting preferred. OR an Associate’s Degree in ECE or a non ECE Associate with 12 credits in ECE, plus One year classroom experience in ECE setting preferred. OR a CDA credential in ECE with a focus on infants/toddlers and working towards as Associate’s Degree, plus two years classroom experience in ECE setting preferred. Good organizational skills required. Good oral and written communication skills required. Good computer skills required. Bi-lingual helpful but not required.

Part Time Nurse Infant/Toddler

Responsible for the oversight of child supervision and for keeping children safe. Provide health screenings and injury assessments for children. Comply with all health related mandates. Assess children’s injuries sustained at centers. Monitor health records of children. Assist Family Workers with health follow-up and track them. Prepare individual health care plans.

Education/Experience/Skills:Registered Nurse. Current certification in Red Cross/CPR and Medication Administration is a plus. Knowledge of child growth and development is a plus. Good Oral and written communication skills are required. Must be well organized and able to maintain files, records, and other documentation.Ability to appreciate social differences with sensitivity towards low-income families. Must have a valid CT driver’s license with a good driving record and be willing to travel.

10 hours/week paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Energy Program Coordinator

Supervise, coordinate and direct the activities related to the Energy Operations component. Coordinate, administer and supervise Energy Operations personnel. Supervise and direct internal and external administrative and program staff to ensure proper adherence to program requirements of funding sources. Will travel to appropriate meeting/training sessions. Maintain open lines of communication with all Energy suppliers in the area. Keep supervisor abreast of all significant matters that emerge within designated area of responsibility. Provide staff training and orientation of procedures for Energy Operations. Establish community and consumer information and education activities. Work with State and Intake sites to establish and prepare program for up-coming year. Develop forms/letter necessary to program. Oversees as well as process applications: process incoming document and bill payments. Other job related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Urban Planning or other related field, plus four years related work experience with at least two years in a supervisory or administrative capacity. In lieu of the above; a combination of education and related work experience totaling seven years, with two years being in a supervisory or administrative capacity. Knowledge of local social service providers.Knowledge of HMIS software.Ability to learn Captains software, proficiently.State of CT Human Service Infrastructure Training. Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills required. Ability to relate to persons of all socio-economics levels.

Family Case Worker

Responsible for children supervision and for keeping children safe. Work with all Child Care families by helping them secure needed services that are available to them. Assist with recruitment and enroll Child Care children in assigned areas. Engage in advocacy work on behalf of individual families. Develop plans with families that may help them achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. Development of family assistance plans that identify family goals. Referral and follow-up activity with community resources in response to health and social services need of families. Establish and coordinates a community resource data bank for families. Prepare required reports.

Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field plus at least one year experience in Human Services OR Family Development Credential plus at least one year experience in Human Services OR Associate degree in Human Services or related field plus three years of experience in Human Services. Within 18 months of hire, must obtain the Family Development Credential or Certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field. Knowledge of Social Service/Health Agencies in the Greater Bridgeport area.Knowledge of Medical/Health terminology desire. Bi-lingual oral and written communication skills are a plus. Interpersonal skills and ability to work with children and their families. Computer knowledge desired. Connecticut driver’s license and a good driving record are required.

Supportive Services Case Worker

Work with all ABCD clients/families by helping them secure needed services that are available to them. Interview and enroll clients/families in our various programs. Referral and follow-up activity with community resources in response to health and social service needs of clients/families. Work with client/family to develop personal action plan that identify their goals. Work with clients to develop plans to help them achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. Follow up with clients at least every 90 days. Able to learn and use the CAPTAINS systems case management & other software required by funding sources proficiently. Participate in regular case conference meetings to mobilize and coordinate services within and outside the agency on behalf of assigned clients/families. Prepare required reports.

Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field plus at least one year experience in Human Services OR Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field plus at least three years of experience in Human Services OR a High School diploma AND five years of experience in Human Service. Knowledge of Social Service/Health Agencies in the Greater Bridgeport area. Bi-lingual oral and written communication skills are helpful but not required. Must have excellent verbal and interpersonal skills. Computer proficiency is required.
